Democratize Water Management

Democratize Water Management

The democratisation of water management advocates the use of water that is socially equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically beneficial, achieved through a stakeholder-inclusive process that involves site and catchment-based actions. The themes of the project align well with the goal and mandate of HUL, a range of national and international initiatives, and government policies in India. Multiple impact pathways are envisaged to involve the community and other stakeholders in both policy and decision making. Pathway # 1 - More targeted communication, engagement with policy working groups, and networking strategies will be used to communicate through this pathway. Pathway #2 links the project to farmers and households throughout where the ICT tools communicate useful information on weather, crop diseases, and water governance. Widespread training of community volunteers in water literacy, biodiversity and climate risks form the third pathway. The fourth pathway is the networking pathway through which it will allow appropriate dissemination of the results and take them forward for appropriate policy interventions and advocacy at the local and national levels.
