Project objectives
Objective-1: To ensure that all households in the Gram Panchayat adopt as near to 100% of the climate adaptation milestones by accessing resources and assistance from the project, government, financial institutions, other NGOs, community and themselves, and to monitor this adoption through Community-guaranteed Adaptation Units issued by the CNV (Climate-Neutral Village) Secretariat.
Objective-2: To ensure that the Bodichipalli Gram Panchayat adopts a watershed-based plan for all lands in its boundary, and prepares a structured plan to implement this in the coming three years.
Objective-3: To increase both conversion of rainwater into sub-surface interflows, and its retention as soil moisture through a package of Trench-cum-Bunds that will be implemented using mechanization on each plot where dry land agriculture land is presently being practiced.
Objective-4: To promote and ensure that all households access equitable credit through SHG Bank Linkages, Kisan Credit Card and priority sector loans.
Objective-5: To promote non-pesticide management (NPM) and organic agriculture, and encourage households to undertake storage and processing of their produce into NPM/Organic products for sale in Hosur, the district and elsewhere.
Objective-6: To share the processes and achievements of this pilot with other corporate bodies in the Hosur Industrial Complex, and encourage them to adopt Gram Panchayats for similar development.
Objective-7: To encourage a range of livelihoods by facilitating inland fisheries in existing tanks, revolving funds for sheep and goats and backyard poultry, as well as identifying job requirements in the surrounding industrial landscape and facilitating households to meet these requirements.
Objective-8: To focus on vulnerable groups within these households (people with disabilities, women-headed households, landless, etc) and ensure that individual and group action plans are developed and implemented.
